Retail giant Amazon has awarded a handful of its workers in the US for getting the Covid-19 vaccine.
According to CNBC, Amazon gave cars and cash bonuses to vaccinated workers to encourage other employees to follow suit.
Employees were given KSh 11 million cash awards for getting vaccinated, Amazon announced on Instagram.
Other workers were given cars worth over KSh 4 million after providing proof of vaccination to the company.

One of the workers who received a vehicle stated:
“This prize is great. I need to be able to get to work and need transportation. I also really like cars.”He also urged other people to the vaccine.

The rewards were part of a sweepstake launched in August to encourage more workers to get inoculated.
The sweepstake offers works the chance to win cars, a fully paid week off complete with a vacation package worth KSh 1.3 million, and cash rewards of 11 million and KSh 55 million.
Amazon said that 19 prizes worth around KSh 220 million would be handed out from September to October 21.
Employees are required to provide proof they are fully vaccinated to be eligible for the rewards.

In other news, the world's richest man Jeff Bezos, who owns a 10% stake in Amazon, invested in a company seeking to reverse ageing.
Bezos invested in the start-up called Altos Labs, which is researching how to reverse biological ageing.
Bezos, who owns a space exploration company Blue Origin, reportedly has a long-standing interest in longevity research.
Altos, the brainchild of Israeli-Russian billionaire Yuri Milner, is pursuing a biological reprogramming technology to rejuvenate cells and ultimately prolong human life.
Given the financial backing the company has received, extending human life may no longer be a creation of science fiction movies.
